Life in Dubai
Getting Around
Dubai boasts a modern and efficient transportation system that caters to both residents and visitors. The Dubai Metro is a convenient and reliable mode of transportation, with two lines serving various parts of the city. Taxis are also readily available and can be hailed on the street or booked through mobile apps. Additionally, Dubai has an extensive bus network that connects different areas.

Dubai's water transport system includes traditional abra boats and modern water buses. Abras are small wooden boats that ferry passengers across the Dubai Creek, providing an authentic and picturesque experience. Water buses operate along Dubai Marina and Dubai Creek, offering an alternative mode of transportation with scenic views of the city's waterfront.
All of these types of transport require a nol card to use. Find out more here.
Weather and Climate
Dubai has a desert climate, characterized by hot summers and mild winters. Summers can be extremely hot, with temperatures exceeding 40°C. Seek shade, drink plenty of water, and limit outdoor activities during the peak heat of the day.
Winters are mild, with temperatures ranging from 15°C to 25°C. It's the perfect time to explore outdoor attractions, enjoy al fresco dining, and engage in various recreational activities.

Dubai, like other desert regions, can experience occasional sandstorms, known as "shamal." These dust storms occur when strong winds pick up sand and blow it across the city. Sandstorms can reduce visibility and cause temporary disruptions. It's advisable to stay indoors during such events and follow local guidelines for safety
Emirati Cuisine
Dubai offers a wide array of culinary delights, ranging from traditional Emirati dishes to international cuisines. Traditional Emirati cuisine often includes dishes such as Machbous (spiced rice with meat or seafood), Harees (a wheat and meat porridge), and Luqaimat (sweet dumplings). The city is also home to numerous restaurants offering international flavors, with cuisines from around the world readily available.

Dubai's bustling streets offer a vibrant street food scene, with small food stalls and vendors serving delicious and affordable bites. From shawarmas (roasted meat wraps) and falafel sandwiches to manakish (Levantine flatbread with various toppings) and samosas, street food in Dubai offers a quick and flavoursome dining experience.
